Polar bears Make me Happy!

Aren't they the cutest? I'll admit I didn't really give polar bears much thought, until we went to the San Diego zoo in January and one of the polar bears was playing in the water. I fell in love and on the odd chance that someone might have a polar bear card I put it as one of my requests in the Play it Forward - Make me Happy thread ... et voilà! Thank you soooo much Sue, I love it!

These are Atlantic walrusses ... I love how well they match the theme of the card. It's very different, the picture is made up of little dots instead of color blocks. Very cool!

Now this is not a postcard of course. I just thought it would be fun to share one of the pictures I took when we were at the zoo, but I recommend you go see them for yourself if you have the chance. Especially the part where they jump into the water is amazing!

I saw this card on the Play it Forward thread and I was like, really Australia has rainforest? So yep, here it is and it looks so pretty! I don't think I've ever seen moss as green as this ... thank you jazzie!

These cute little guys are Laughing Kookaburra's. Funny name, huh? Apparently, when the first settlers came to Australia they thought someone was laughing at them, but it was actually the Kookaburra's going Ha Ha. Haha! :-P

My first card from Spain and I couldn't have wished for a nicer one! It shows a typical house in Victoria, which makes me want to go to spain as well ... I think I'll just have to do a trip around the world ;-) Thank you, Sorgin!

This stamp really intrigued me; I couldn't figure out what it meant and why there's a rooster on it so I did some research and this is what I found out:

- The Diario Palentino is a famous newspaper.
- The statue is the Cristo del Otero in Palencia, the world's second tallest Christ statue.
- The rooster stands for the people who sell the newspaper. Why? I don't know, if someone knows please leave me a message.

Doesn't this card make you want to get on the next direct flight to New Zealand?

I've dreamt of going to New Zealand ever since I was 12 years old, so getting this card has been very special to me. So kia ora, buttercup65 ... I love that you told me the story about Wairaka on the back.

I love this card! There's a funny story behind it too. See, one day I got a message through the official site from someone from Portugal wanting to swap cards with me. And I thought, now who would actually go through the trouble to find someone from the US to swap cards with? It's not like US cards are hard to come by, right? But it turned out to be one of the best swaps I ever did ... thanks, tp_simoes!

The stamps are so pretty. I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but the one on the right is actually pre-printed on the card, the other one is a real stamp.

I got this awesome & unusual card through the Play it Forward - Make me Happy thread. The text on the back reads:

Black Sunday
April 14, 1935
This infamous "black blizzard" of Oklahoma's dustbowl years (1933-40) produced zero visibility and moved thousands of tons of topsoil across the plains. Today through better farming practices, Oklahoma is rarely plagued by dust storms of this intensity.

I got this TAG card from Rraisa in Finland. She asked what kind of card I'd like so I told her something typically Finnish. :-) I love the old barns (in the top picture), they look so strong and warm. Very nice color!

She also found me a stamp with something typically Finnish on it; cloudberries! Also known as Rubus chamaemorus. Don't they look delicious?!

I received this beautiful snow landscape from an 8 year old girl from Finland. Isn't it amazing?! The more cards I receive from Finland, the more I want to go there on a holiday, even though it looks very, very cold ;-) Thank you so much milla!

I love the stamp! It's designed by Paavo Huovinen ... I wish I knew what kind of flowers they are.

Edited to say: thanks to a very sweet postcrosser I now know what kind of flowers they are. :-) It is called a prickly rose (Rosa acicularis). Thank you Cloudy!

This is my first card from Portugal. It is a picture of the Christ Convent Window. I didn't really know what it was so I went online and found out it is on the UNESCO World Heritage List ... how cool is that?! Thanks ajcm! :-)

The stamp says Modernização da Marinha de Guerra (modernization of the Navy) at the top and Navio de Patrulha Oceânica (Ocean patrol ship) ... that is, if those online translation sites can be trusted. ;-)
